Your phone number

Keep the number your customers already know.

It's on your truck, your cards, and your Google listing. You don't have to change any of it. There are two ways to use it with Kairvio, and we handle either one for you.

Option 1

Forward it

Calls work the same week

Your number stays with your current phone company. You turn on call forwarding to your new Kairvio number, and every call gets answered or texted back.

  • Nothing to sign, nothing to cancel
  • Calls reach Kairvio right away. Missed-call texts start once texting is approved (below), and they come from your Kairvio number
  • The catch: phone companies forward calls, not texts. Texts customers send to your old number still go to your old phone.

Best for getting started fast, or if you're not ready to move the number yet.

Option 2 · recommended

Move it to Kairvio

Usually 1 to 3 weeks, depending on your carrier

The number itself moves over (this is called porting). Calls and texts to your number land in Kairvio, and your replies come from the same number.

  • One number for calls, texts, reminders, and invoices
  • No downtime: the old line works until the move finishes
  • The number stays yours. If you leave, we help you move it again

You can start with forwarding and move the number later.

What we need from you to move a number

About five minutes of your time. We fill out the request and follow it with your carrier.

  1. 1The name on the account, exactly as your carrier has it
  2. 2Your current carrier and account number
  3. 3Your account PIN or transfer PIN (cell carriers give you one in their app)
  4. 4A recent bill, so the details match

One more thing: texting approval

Whichever option you pick, phone carriers require every business that texts customers to register first (it's called A2P 10DLC). It usually takes a few days to a couple of weeks. We do the paperwork, and calls work the whole time.

Phone number questions

Will my phone stop working while you move the number?
No. Your number keeps working with your current carrier until the moment the move finishes. Most people notice nothing. Until then, we can forward the number so calls already reach Kairvio.
Should I cancel my old phone service?
Not yet. Cancelling first can release the number, and then it can't be moved. Keep the old service until we tell you the move is done, then cancel it.
Can I move a cell number?
Yes, if it's in your business's name and you're ready for it to stop ringing on that phone as a normal cell line. Many owners keep their cell for personal use and move only the business line. We'll talk it through with you.
Do my customers have to do anything?
No. They keep calling and texting the same number.
What if I leave Kairvio?
The number is yours. We'll help you move it to your next provider, and we export your customer list for you.
Can I still call customers from my cell?
Yes. Kairvio can ring your cell when you place a call, so customers see your business number, not your personal one.
